Cozy, Weems and Plath style.

charts and a puppy

Some of you may know that I work at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. I'm a security guard, nothing glamorous. But, I get to see lots of the cool stuff we have there. This is a picture I took with my phone of a 'chart' that we have there. This is a chart from the Polynesian islands. As a rule, the Polynesians didn't really use charts and they had it mostly in their heads, but this is one they had actually made. The white spots are shells and they represent islands. The sticks are various direct routes and the bent sticks represent wave and current patterns to watch out for. Amazing.


And, Jenny found this wonderfully cute picture of Willie from when he was a baby. February 7th was our one year anniversary of owning Willie. :)

Boat Show!

I think we will be going to the above linked boat show this weekend. It will likely be part of our Valentine's day. If anyone else is going to be there, let us know! Lots of fancy boats we can't afford but some of the deals from the vendors are awesome.

Hopefully we find something cool and cheap!

merganser

The above photo is not one from our harbor, but just a stock photo I found online. I just posted it because among the many nifty seabirds we've seen here we are having a fair influx of mergansers lately. They look really neat. Ducks with mohawks really. Fans of Crass? I dunno, but I like to think so.

They are kind of skittish and I haven't been able to get my own good photo of one, but if I do, I'll let you all know.

Rabbit Ears

We get free internet from the office park next door to the marina, but we need this wireless antennae booster to do so. It doesn't always work well. Jenny was getting frustrated and decided to wear it on her head since it wasn't working anyhow.

Obviously, it is working again.

Madrigal - Our 1978 Ericson 35 Mk-II

This is a post written just to give some information on our boat. From time to time I hope to update this post with new stuff that I find out and I will add a permanent link off to the right of the blog with our other links.

Our boat is a 1978 Ericson Mk-II designed by Bruce King as a variation on the original Alberg Ericson.

Birds and Light

Not completely sure what this bird is. Couldn't get a closer picture, but we've seen em around a lot in the last couple weeks. They seem like a cormorant, but they sit lower in the water. They look slicker and pointier. They are really neat. Closest our Audubon book says is an Anhinga. Technically, they are sometimes found up here, but I'd think not in the winter. Anyhow, I like the picture enough so I figured I'd just post it.
